Pikmin 4, released on 21st July 2023, has become the best-selling game of the Pikmin series, with over 2.6 million copies sold. Nintendo unveiled this information through a financial report for the second quarter of the financial year ending on March 24.
This means within the period of 2 months, the latest release has managed to surpass Pikmin 3 Deluxe, which sold 2.4 million units.
Pikmin 4 is a real-time strategy video game by Nintendo EPD. In Pikmin 4, players take on the character of Pikmin, who sets out to find the stranded Rescue Corps members. Players are given the liberty to use surrounding resources to their advantage.
Most Sales from Japan
In only 2 months, Pikmin 4 becomes the best selling game of the franchise with 2.6 million units sold.

Out of 2.6 million sales, a large number of sales, 1.36 million, were from Japan. The game has garnered massive popularity in Japan, which has sold around 930,000 physical software chart units in Japan alone.
As per Nintendo’s financial report, the first half of the fiscal year saw a significant rise in sales with the release of new gaming titles. Elsewhere in its figures, The Legends of Zelda: Tears of Kingdom sold over 19.50 million copies, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with 3.22 million, and Nintendo Smash Bros. Ultimate with 1.6 million copies.
Furthermore, the depreciation of Yen contributed to the growth by increasing the conversion rate, Nintendo reported.
