Insomniac Reveals Small Detail about Marvel’s Wolverine Game

Insomniac confirms the long-speculated guess of a common universe between Spider-Man 2 and the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine. Spider-Man 2’s creative director, Bryan Intihar has confirmed the detail. However, it is also confirmed that the Wolverine won’t be making any debut in Spider-Man 2 yet.

Speaking on Kinda Funny Gamecast, Bryan said, “They’re all 1048. I think I got that right.” Here 1048 refers to Earth’s 1048 cinematic universe. And when asked Why Wolverine didn’t appear in a cameo in Spider-Man 2, Intihar answered, “There was a decision not to do it… I think for us, we wanted to let that team cook, and who knows what the future holds, but right now let’s let them do their thing.”

From the above information, it is clear that the title will be a standalone, directed by Brian Horton and Cameron Christian, who were also the creative leads on Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Marvel’s Wolverine was announced during a PlayStation showcase event in September 2021 with a teaser. The game will be PlayStation 5 exclusive. The release date is not revealed, and it’s likely to be in early 2024.

“In the vein of our Spider-Man games, our goal here is to not only respect the DNA of what makes the character so popular but also look for opportunities to make it feel fresh and truly reflect the Insomniac spirit.”

“Even though Marvel’s Wolverine is very early in development, from what I’ve seen of its emotional narrative and cutting-edge gameplay, the team is already creating something truly special.”
