get in through hallway

head towards the hall where the merchant and a typewriter was found.

find crow nest

the crow's nest is in courtyard itself, at the north direction of stairs.

shoot that crow

the crow is our target. shooting it will drop the precious emerald.

sell the emerald

once the emerald is on ground, grab it. Selling it to the merchant will grant us three spinels.
