Age of Empires 2 never fails to surprise players. Each Definitive Edition introduced in AOE II has uncovered hidden dynasties and kingdoms from the past. This time, we dive into Chinese history through new civilizations and three campaigns – The Shu Clan, Shu led by Liu Bei, and the Wei clan commanded by Cao Cao.

New Civilizations added in The Three Kingdoms

In this new DLC, Age of Empires 2 has added five new civilizations. The kingdoms of Shu, Wei, and Wu together form the Three Kingdoms, while tensions between Jurchens and Khitans signify the history of Northern China.

Depending on the dynasty you choose to lead, you experience different strategies and variations in army units. Some are highly specialized in cavalry or infantry, while others have a strong hold over Siege and Archer Units.

The Three Kingdoms is a master piece developed through the collaboration between Age of Empires with Forgotten Empires, makers of popular games like Age of Mythology and Stellaris.

Apart from these major additions, there are plenty of other things to explore, such as new characters, events, and abilities. You may experience small but noticeable changes to game designs that have enhanced the overall quality of the game.
