Throughout varied updates, the Start Menu in Windows 11 has improved quite well, allowing users better performance, personalized recommendations, and the ability to group apps. While it previously allowed pinning apps for quick access, one notable limitation was the inability to rearrange the location of these apps and folders.
With the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview build 26120.3576, users can now move items within the Start Menu to the right, left, or front positions. This new improvement was first spotted by a Windows Expert, PhantomOfEarth, and I was able to toggle it by using Vivetool.
Additionally, you can organize your apps more efficiently by creating new app folders. By selecting “Create a new app folder,” the chosen app is placed into a folder that you can rename as desired. You can further customize your Start Menu by moving additional apps into this folder using the “Move to app folder ‘Folder’” option.
It’s important to note that this feature is still in its early stages and not yet in its stable release. During my experience, creating the first folder functioned smoothly. However, attempting to create a second folder, simultaneously, caused the Start Menu to crash, necessitating a system restart.
