Windows Recall has been around for a while for a limited group of users with “Copilot+ PCs,” with no specific date for a full public release. Since its initial release, Windows Recall has faced widespread criticism due to significant privacy and security concerns. Assuring safety over its use, Windows Recall finally got a feature it should’ve had ages ago, one that would be appreciated by privacy advocates and security experts.
Windows Recall now filters sensitive data from being captured by Windows Recall
As spotted by a liable Windows insider, @Phantomofearth, Windows Recall is finally getting filter options that negate the information of apps or websites being captured by Snapshot. Previously, even sensitive information like passwords or images was being saved to PC, opening avenues for potential abuse. With this update, users gain more control over the data to be apprehended by filtering apps, windows, and websites.
Phantomofearth spotted this enhancement in Dev and Beta build 26120.3281. The Recall filtering options can easily be accessed via the Recall system tray flyout.
Recall gets UI overhaul
The Windows Recall new updates don’t end here. Microsoft also gave Recall’s interface a redesign to make it more user-friendly. The Recall app will now use Mica alt, with the Context Menu, Search Results, and Click to DO toolbar becoming more rounder.
In addition to this, Microsoft is improving experiences by pushing more features in subsequent updates. As part of this update, existing snapshots will be deleted.
