Gorilla Tag developers Another Axiom Inc. has spoken about the paucity of game updates for Quest 1 players. Owing to the advancements in Meta, the recent Monke Blocks update will be the last supporting update for Gorilla Tag on Quest 1.

The Quest 1 players can still play together, with a tweak that there will be no seasonal changes. This means the game is still playable, but the players will miss out on new gameplay features and mechanisms, and bugs will prevail without visual updates.

Another Axiom Inc. announces plan to halt future updates, “Quest 1 players, we have important news. Gorilla Tag will no longer receive updates for Quest 1, and we’re rolling back to the Monke Blocks update. You can still play, but future features and decorations won’t be supported.

Meta has been shutting down its servers and backend services for multiplayer games and applications on Quest 1 for a while now. Most likely, the decision is due to technical limitations of the older Quest 1 hardware and inability to cope with the subsequent game updates and features. Also, not to mention, Meta is shifting its focus to newer headsets, encouraging migration to Quest 2.

We know this isn’t easy to hear. We’ve done everything we could to keep Quest 1 part of the journey, but as Gorilla Tag and Meta continue to grow, supporting Quest 1 is no longer something we’re able to do,says Gorilla Tag.

As for the shiny rocks, items, and progress, they will be carried on to the game on your hardware upgrade, “If you upgrade to a newer Meta device, your shiny rocks, items, and progress will transfer.
