Since most players have nostalgic relations with the Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 1 map, Epic Games has decided to reintroduce Fortnite OG, and yes, it is permanent. The model is already live, will boast a battle pass, and will have dedicated seasons. However, the seasons in OG are shorter than those in Battle Royale, with Season 1 ending on January 31st.
More interestingly, Solos and Squads are available right now, and the Ranked Fortnite OG is on the way and is likely to be released later in 2025.
Additionally, developers have reintroduced this mode with quality-of-life changes, where some edges are preserved while others are polished. For instance, glaring from the sniper scopes, max building resources set to 999, and double pump for shotguns.
As Fortnite has made many adjustments through its journey, the building mechanisms will be uniform with Battle Royale. You can sprint, slide, mantle, door bash, and move while healing.
The Fortnite OG map returns
The original Fortnite: Battle Royale map from 2017, often called the OG Map, is back. Epic designers have paid keen attention to placing structures like trees, chests, or cars in the exact position as old players remember it. In Zero Build, Ziplines and Ascenders are added to assist in getting to hard-to-reach locations.
From a glance, the map appears to have a vibrant aesthetic, consistent with Fortnite’s art style. It is interesting to see if developers are presuming to add varied terrains or biomes.

While Epic has included almost all old weapons in its library, players can expect more additions. Here is the complete list of the weapons with more items:

Fortnite OG Battle Pass
Since Epic is planning to have OG seasons (though shorter), the Fortnite OG Pass features 45 tiers of retro rewards with a modern twist on classic items and outfits.
Renegade Rebel, Aerial Assault Bomber, and Skull Commander are some skins to earn in Chapter 1 – Season 1, with an unlockable alt style for each. The OG pass will use XP from any mode experience in the game, not just Fortnite OG.
As for Fortnite OG Cups, they are unprized open cups for the Fortnite OG game mode. Currently, the OG loot pool is at your disposal with no competitive loot changes. However, the developers assert that more OG Tournament Cups will be held in subsequent weeks.
