A Tokyo-based startup is preparing to launch an immersive gaming handheld, likely in the first quarter of 2025. The Rekody handheld furnishes epic adventures with support of up to 2TB of storage and an advanced cooling system that spins up to 4400 RPM.
It runs Windows 11, equipped with an Intel® N-series processor and 12GB RAM and it flawlessly supports almost all gaming platforms, including PlayStation, PC, Xbox, Steam, and Luna. The gaming handheld provides access to varied game libraries, making it suitable for every playstyle. Whether you prefer console-style gameplay or PC-based experience, Rekody has all to offer.
The handheld is equipped with a 7-inch display and enveloping stereo audio that is set to deliver a captivating experience. The screen comes with an 800*1280 resolution and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. These options might not sound convenient for many, but the specifications are common standards for gaming handhelds.
With the budget being said, Rekody offers a decent brightness level of 450nit and a 5-point touchscreen. However, some devices offer 10-point or even more touchscreen support, which is quite critical for more complex touch interactions.
Meanwhile, the Hall-sensor joystick ensures precise control. Also, you can set custom button configurations for different games, making it easy to adapt your controls to any genre.

However, the given gaming handheld could not be a suitable choice, when concerned about the current trend of gaming. The resolution of 800×1280 is quite below the expected threshold. The higher resolution like 1080p would have enhanced visual clarity, especially in detailed games. As for battery, 4000mAh lasting 2-4 hours is significantly lower when compared to the other handhelds that offer a larger battery of 5313mAh.
To be honest, the Intel Alder Lake-N N100 processors are the best match only for entry-level gaming. For gamers seeking smoother performance for demanding titles, a handheld that offers a dedicated CPU and GPU setup might be more appealing.
While 12GB LPDDR5 memory at 4800MHz is a strong feature, most of the gamers might rethink its purchase at $499.
