Currently, in Early Access, Ostranauts is a hardcore noir space-sim, where the protagonist is entitled to manage the crew and its spaceship. Kitfox Games is joining Ostranauts as a new publisher, and are planning to release the update 1.0 in 2025.
Ostranauts will ask you to scavenge and explore the boneyard for resources, to build and customize your ship. Remember, here death is the only certainty. Beware and be ready for the consequences of each step you take.
Via an announcement on Steam, Ostranauts publicized its partnership with Kitfox Games, the publishers behind Dwarf Fortress and Caves of Qud on Steam, promising regular updates and patch notes. Ostranauts also revealed its roadmap, the first major update called Fire in the Hold is expected to live in 2025. The Fire in the Hold update envisions Ship-to-Ship combats, including various explosives, and fire simulation.

While Ostranauts hasn’t met with huge commercial success, it has triumphed in gathering decent followers who soon will be able to explore new space stations, jobs, and a variety of content (planned, but not revealed yet). With plenty of options to uncover with 18+ UI buttons, it’s indeed exciting to look forward to Ostranauts upcoming updates.
