Flappy Bird is making a return with new game modes and multiplayer challenges

Even Android included it as an Easter Egg

Despite being a simple 2D game, Flappy Bird became an addictive mobile game in 2013, garnering over 100 million downloads. However, in 2014, original developer Dong Nguyen decided to remove the game from stores, citing personal reasons.

A decade later, Flappy Bird is returning on iOS, Android, and other platforms, along with several new game modes, characters, and multiplayer challenges. But there’s a catch. The original developers, Dong Nguyen have not been developing this version, but the Flappy Bird Foundation, who acquired the legal rights to reinvigorate the game.

The upgraded Flappy Bird seems to be a lot different than the original. For instance, you will be able to choose between the characters. It doesn’t seem the different characters have distinct abilities. perhaps the given characters are merely a skin change.

Moreover, this version of Flappy Bird includes new game modes, challenging your ability to shoot the bird through hoops. For instance, Flappy Bird Rivals mode puts you to the test challenging 99 other Flappy Bird rivals. Meanwhile, the Flappy Bird EZ mode tries to hone your skills, before you take on the pros.

The developer of Piou Piou, Kek, added: “Today is a milestone not just in gaming but for me personally. It’s so cool to see how influential Piou Piou has been for developers and hundreds of millions of gamers over the years. It’s incredible to work alongside such a dedicated team of fans and creators who are truly passionate about changing the industry narrative and together bringing the original Flappy Bird back to life.”
