It is an old development from 2023 when the rumors surrounding the development of Blizzard’s ‘Project Odyssey’ surfaced. Several critics claimed that Odyssey might resemble Rust in crafting and building and Everwild in terms of fantastical and magical settings.

Blizzard began working on Odyssey in 2017, but unfortunately, development was halted in January 2024. While the official reasons for discontinuing the project are not disclosed, suspicions point to Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard and ‘insurmountable issues’ with the game engine.

Now, images of this survival game have reportedly leaked online. According to a post on VK.com, a Russian social media site, a user uploaded several screenshots of the first look at Project Odyssey.

What Project Odyssey’s Leaked Images Depict?

From the interface images, it is clear that Project Odyssey was a multiplayer-based survival game whose environment corresponds with Genshin Impact. The screen captures also mention that about four players can team up and proceed with missions and achievements.

Players had several tools at their disposal, with a customizable inventory. Meaning players were authorized to choose the weapon that best matched their play style. For instance, the Odyssian Axe was a Tier II weapon with 20 and medium speed damage.

The successive images show the character statistics, suggesting a player will start with a base model and then upgrade to new clothing and loadout. Here, we also see the Status section, allowing players to diagnose their health. Like the sixth image says, “You have been poisoned. You will lose 50 health until you find an antidote.”

In one of the screenshots, we also see the Death Screen, suspecting the game would have had a touch of PvP. One of the images displays the death of a player and is given options to choose the respawn location. This screen also illustrates the death of the player. For example, another player shot down this player from 1239 steps.

These are just a few speculations after looking at the leaked images. Unfortunately, players may never experience Odyssey firsthand, and it is the farthest we can go.
