While Sony Interactive Entertainment is trying to influence the overall gaming market by expanding content to PCs, it has admitted that the PlayStation console will be the core of its business. However, the pricing of PlayStation 5 Pro, the “most advanced and innovative console hardware to date,” at $700 has divided players.
Just like the players, the CEO of Respawn Entertainment, Vince Zampella, has opinions to share. Speaking to IGN, “I think it’s expected, and anything that gets us better performance for the people that really love it. To me, it’s an amazing thing. I was watching something on it where the price…. where they look at is it the most expensive. And it really isn’t,” said Vince. “If you go back, some of the older consoles were just as expensive and probably adjusted for inflation were probably more,” he continued.
Talking about the PlayStation 5 Pro price tag, “So it at first seemed a little shocking, but it’s kind of like, it’s actually not that bad. And if you get a $700 PC, you’re not getting the same performance you’re getting out of it.”
Vince Zampella appears to be correct regarding the adjusted inflation. Several graphics cards alone are worth more than $700.

Vince wants PlayStation 5 Pro to be more affordable
While the Respawn Entertainment boss admitted that the price of $700 for PS5 Pro isn’t a wrong purchase, he also wants the console hardware to be more affordable. He desires the consoles to reach a wider audience.
Talking about the affordability, he said, “So I mean, it’s a balance. Is it expensive for people? Absolutely. Not everybody will be able to afford it. Would it be better if it was cheaper? Sure. I want more people to have it. But it makes sense, really.”
