With the release of Mod Toolkit in Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7, modders took the opportunity and furnished its players with several exclusive content, not included in the game firsthand. Even Larian Studios confirmed that players have downloaded more than a million mods in the first 24 hours of patch 7.
While Baldur’s Gate 3 developers assured the creation of mods with this dedicated software, the studio also clarified that the creation of new levels is not possible. However, it took just a few days for the modders to delve into the developer code of the toolkit, and unlock new mechanisms, even enabling the crafting of custom maps.
For instance, a modder and Reddit user katszenBurger, shared screen captures of custom maps created using the unlocked toolkit, featuring Castle by Seaside. The OP also shared a short clip of the custom-built map, adding, “It seems like the unlocked editor is very promising for custom campaigns! I hope that means we will eventually get some full-on user-made DLC or new campaigns.”

Baldur’s Gate 3 modders even have Avernus custom map
Additionally, in a separate post, they shared another custom map, and this time it’s Avernus. Most of you might remember the requests made by players to add this location, as a separate DLC, after seeing one of Karlach’s endings. katszenBurger has embedded the locations for them. Take a look at the Avernus map in the YouTube video.
It appears that the custom map of Avernus has plenty of content, yet to arrive. Commenting on the Avernus custom map, “I had a lava area planned too, and maybe I could make the lake explorable a bit (this is a very empty open area, though), but those were all my ideas up to now.” But, be careful, as the modder, “imagine Avernus would be about just as hostile to the players”
