Open Beta for Valorant for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S begins today with a full console launch that brings some major bonuses for Game Pass members. With the team meticulously retooling Valorant for consoles, Riot says, “This is no simple port”.
A post on Xbox Wire depicts Riot’s devotion to bringing Valorant to Xbox as they are sparing no effort in bringing the title to Xbox.
With the developer team working on reproducing the original mouse-and-keyboard controls to gamepad input, the console port seems to be different from the PC version. For instance, the PC version has Hip-Fire as the primary shooting mode, and the Aim-Down-Sights as secondary. Meanwhile, the console ports have Focus Mode which is functionally similar to Hip-fire but with adjusted sensitivities.

There will be Crossplay but with a catch!
To maintain competitive integrity, Riot has confirmed that there will be cross-play across consoles, but no cross-platform play between PC and consoles. There will be shared cross-progression across the PC and console, meaning that your inventory will carry over. If you unlock skins on the PC or the console, they’ll work across the two. The same goes for the battle pass.
Riot perfectly terms this port as extraordinary and for a good reason. The console port will retain everything from the PC title, including all maps, weapons, modes, and characters. Since its launch in 2020, hundreds of updates aired to the PC port. And all the content from these updates will be polished to the consoles.
After all, the old rumors regarding the Valorant for consoles were true.
