October 26, 2023, saw the beginning of The Finals open beta, and within a few days, The Finals reached the maximum capacity on Steam. After hitting 7.5 million active players, Embark Studios has announced the end of open beta.
The open beta was released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The Finals open beta was a huge success with a peak of 229,992 concurrent players count. The Open bets will be live until Monday morning European time before it goes offline. Developers, via a tweet, marked this event as “An Unforgettable Week for Us”.

Despite receiving an overwhelming welcome, The Finals was not free from criticism. Embark Studios was slammed for using AI-generated voices for its characters.
In response, Audio Designers commented, “The reason that we went this route is that AI text-to-speech is finally extremely powerful. It gets us far enough in terms of quality, and allows us to be extremely reactive to new ideas … if a game designer comes up with a new idea for a game mode, we can have a voiceover representing that in just a matter of hours, instead of months.”
Nonetheless, The Finals is the sixth most-played Valve game. The official launch date has been not revealed yet.
