Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is the Lowest-Rated Game of the Series

Modern Warfare 3

With the recent release of the latest title in the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, reviews have begun to surface. Metacritic has assigned Modern Warfare 3 a score of 50, marking the lowest rating in the series, followed by 2021’s Call of Duty: Vanguard, which holds a Metacritic score of 73.

It’s important to note that these scores may undergo changes, given the potential impact of positive user reviews. Consequently, the upcoming positive rating is crucial to avoid being listed as the lowest-rated game in the series.

One prominent factor contributing to the negative welcome is the concise duration of the campaign mode, transiting only a few hours. Additionally, concerns have been raised about the rushed development of Modern Warfare 3, completed within 16 months and featuring reused assets from its predecessor.
VGC criticized the game, stating, “Sold as a pre-order bonus and given about as much thought, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3’s single-player offering is a short, shallow waste of time that feels less like a video game and more like a contractual obligation.”

Digital Trends added their perspective, describing the game as “cheap bubble gum with flavor that dissipates before you’ve really had time to chew on it.”
According to Forbes reports, Activision, prior to its acquisition by Microsoft, opted not to proceed with a sequel to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which too was a lethal blow to the franchise. Advanced Warfare holds a Metacritic score of 81.
